LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Clark County leaders and community partners marked the opening of Phase 1 of the Red Rock Legacy Trail on Tuesday, unveiling the first mile of what is planned as a 19-mile, multi-use paved trail linking Summerlin to Blue Diamond.
The new segment, located near Charleston Boulevard and Sky Vista Drive, is designed to improve access and safety for trail users, county officials say. The trail is now open to the public.
Project upgrades included a new traffic signal at the Charleston and Sky Vista intersection, a dedicated parking lot for trail visitors, and the relocation of the Red Rock Canyon marker to a safer spot with its own parking area for photos.
Officials thanked project partners, including Save Red Rock, the Bureau of Land Management, NDOT, the Federal Highway Administration, and cyclists with the Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition who participated in the event.
